Marguerite 'Peggy' (Marron) Morris

Marguerite “Peggy” A. (Marron) Morris, 90, of Squires Lane and formerly of Jamaica, NY, died Saturday, July 30, 2016 at The Seasons at Summercrest in Newport, NH.
She was born in Troy, NY on June 4, 1926 the daughter of Neil V. and Louise (Flubacher) Marron. 

Peggy graduated from St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in New York City in 1946 as a Registered Nurse where she shortly thereafter caught the eye of a young physician, John Morris.  John, or “Jack” as he was known, had recently been honorably discharged from his service the U.S. Army in the WWII Pacific Theatre. Peggy and Jack were married in 1947, and shortly thereafter raised a family of two daughters, followed by two sons.

She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Queens College in 1977.

She lived in Jamaica, NY from 1951 until moving to New London, NH in 2010 to be with her daughter and her family.  Peggy was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Jamaica, NY.  She was a member of AAUW (Association of American University Women). She loved to read and pray. She also loved to travel, especially to France and she enjoyed painting.
Her beloved husband, Jack died in 1980  She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Kathleen M. and Henry N. Monroe and Jeanne F. and James R. Grasso; two sons, John J. Morris and the love of his life Mary Lou Williams and William N. and his wife, Holly E. Morris; six grandchildren, Brian J. Grasso, Rebecca J. Heckaman, Robin Eckelberry, Henry M. Monroe, Thomas W. Monroe and Brittany Morris; two great grandchildren, Edward R. Johnson and Addison Grasso; a sister, Patricia M. and her husband, Robert M. Horner; and a nephew, Neil J. Horner.
Friends may call at the Coffey Funeral Home, 91 North Broadway, Tarrytown, NY on Thursday from 10:30 - 11:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the chapel at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY on Thursday at 1:00PM followed by burial in Gate of Heaven.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Association of the Deaf.
