Our hearts go out to you Maureen, Kevin, John, Dennis and all of your Grandchildren and daughter in laws. What a tribute today for Jerry. We were so happy we could be there to celebrate his life. We will cherish the memories of our many years of sharing our Aruba vacations with him and will continue to share with you. Our cruise vacation and the laughter he always brought to the table. Keep Jerry alive everyday and we feel that is the best healing you can find. We will miss our friend but he will be with us always in prayer especially.
Love you
Bob and JoAnn Calcinari

My thoughts and prayers are with the Barbelet family during this sad time. I will always remember Gerald with a smile on his face. I was honored to be an altar boy at his wedding and he showed his appreciation with a gratuity that was never matched by any other wedding. He was a mentor to me growing up on Sunnyside Ave. I was lucky to know him. As a teenager I went to many Ranger games with him and Al Mazares. He branded me a traitor for jumping ship and pledging my loyalty to the Islanders. A fact he never let me forget. Running into him on my infrequent trips back to NY were always happy and friendly reunions. I am comforted by these memories. Yes he is gone but I will always remember him as a good man. God bless Gerald and God bless the Barbelets.

Maureen,

My brother, Jimmy, and I grew up on Sunnyside Avenue with Gerald. We played with him all our young lives. Jimmy played hockey with Gerald and we all skated on "the lakes" with him. So many fond memories. Life too short.

We are so sorry for your loss. Our sincerest sympathy goes out to you and your boys and grandchildren.

What can say about my Uncle Jerry that will not be said a lot. He's larger than life; in size, in heart and in character.
Only seeing him on a limited basis through out the years, the main value I kept on seeing was the respect he received. Not only from his peers but even from his sons' friends. That's because he treated them like they were his own family, a trait I see in each of his boys.
He made you laugh. Through a story, a joke or him wearing a Jamaican dredlock hat with his Rangers t- shirt. His humor made you feel comfortable around him
Finally his dedication to his town was only dwarfed by his dedication to his wife and his family. I am blessed to be a part of this crazy family. Which makes not being there for the services even harder. I know that he will be in great hands.

The final horn has sounded, it's time to go Home. With much love and affection. May you rest in peace.

My condolences to Aunt Maureen and the family of the passing of Uncle Gerry. I will forever remember the great big smiles and hugs he had for me as a child growing up. As an adult seeing Uncle Gerry, things didn't change! Always a great big smile and an even bigger hug. Always happy to see myself and my family even under the most dire of circumstances. I am confident he is at peace and will be looking down upon all of you. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.. Amy Meszaros Delia

It saddens me to say farewell to another former classmate and member of the Class of '63. As a person of faith, I know that the next step in your life journey will bring you upward to the heavenly Father. In time, your family members and friends will smile as the fond memories of fun, laughter and love are moved forward from the shadows of sadness.
Warm wishes to family and friends; I am with you in spirit to share a hug and condolences for Gerald.
