William B. Graham was born at Tarrytown, NY in 1936, and passed away peacefully on January 25th. He lived his entire life in the hamlet of Pocantico Hills. After serving his nation in the US Army, Bill held the position of Superintendent of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery for forty-years. Upon retirement he took a part-time position at the Stone Barn Center for Food & Agriculture, a job he greatly enjoyed. When not at work, he could usually be found in his gardens, doing yardwork or on walkabout in the Rockefeller State Park, which he traversed throughout his lifetime.
Bill was a fixture in the Pocantico Hills community and was one of the most informed people on it’s history. He was a lifelong member for the Union Church of Pocantico Hills where he served as a trustee, deacon and in the choir for over sixty-years. He was also a proud member of the Pocantico Hills Fire Department for almost seventy-years serving as fire chief, president, and director of Hilltop Engine Company #1, and as an elected commissioner of the fire district.
William Graham was a kind and generous gentleman who touched the lives of many. A dedicated family man, he was an exceptional role model for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild, all of whom miss him already. He was pre-deceased by his mother (Katherine) and sister (Joan), and is survived by Janet, his loving wife of sixty-years, his children Caroline (Hannes) and Bill, Jr (Gloria), his grandchildren Sarah, Hannes and Erik, and his great-granddaughter Madison.
