Walter James “Jim" Carlson, 79, of White Plains and Mt. Kisco, N.Y., died on April 7, 2023, at Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.
Jim was a charismatic, fun-loving person who lived most of his life in Westchester County.
Jim was born in Tarrytown, N.Y. He graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School and later served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War era. After he was honorably discharged, he attended and graduated from Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y., where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees.
Jim was a special education teacher in the Tarrytown School District in Tarrytown, N.Y., and the Yorktown School District in Yorktown Heights, N.Y., before retiring in 2004.
He met his lifetime partner, Angela Caspare, in 1974. They spent most of the next 50 years together. One of their favorite places to vacation was Aruba.
In addition to Angela, Jim is survived by his sister, Jean Carlson, and her partner, Russell Geary, of Danbury, Conn., and his niece, Margaret, of Connecticut.
He will be interred at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. on April 10, 2023 with a graveside service at 2:00 PM.
