Theresa Fortugno Obituary

Theresa Ann (“Terry”) Fortugno (née Liso), 87 a long-time resident of Yonkers, NY died peacefully on March 9th at home in Hopewell Junction, NY surrounded by her loving family. Born in the Bronx on March 20, 1935 to Joseph and Rose (née Morelli) Liso, she married her beloved husband Angelo Fortugno of nearly 65 years on November 28, 1954 at Our Lady of Mercy Church in the Bronx. Together they raised four loving children; Angelo, Theresa, Laura (Frank) and Michael (Johanna). Her husband predeceased her in 2019. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Frank and Theodore Liso. Terry was the proud and beloved grandmother of nine grandchildren; Michelle and John (Terry Ann), Christina, Frank and Michael (Laura), Michael, Marissa, Madelyn and Louis (Michael) and seven beloved great-grandchildren; Thomas, Kiara, Kadan, Carter, Nicholas, Dominic and Gabriella. Terry went on to have a successful career as a real estate broker in Yonkers dating back to 1973. She worked for several independent firms, but most notably Joseph Anthony Real Estate in Yonkers. Others who were close to her and mourn her passing in a special way are long-time family friends, Tony Toscano of Yonkers, Lisa Pinto of Eastchester and Pamela Bruno of New Fairfield, CT. Terry loomed large in the lives of many people through her nearly 88 years on earth. Always willing to offer a helping hand, a word of advice, a needed connection or a place to stay, she put herself last and others first. A talented homestyle cook of Italian food, there was a long list of people (family or friend) who experienced her generosity to celebrate their special occasions or just a Sunday meal. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her family, friends and watching the Yankees with her beloved husband. In the end this hard-working, and selfless woman showed the people in her life a great example of perseverance and priorities for a life well lived. Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown, NY on Sunday, March 12th from 4pm-8pm, while a Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Paul II at the Immaculate Conception in Sleepy Hollow, NY on Monday, March 13th at 9:30AM.
