Teonilo 'Cari' Obregon

Teonilo ‘Cari’ Obregon was born on August 23, 1935 in Guayos, Cuba. He passed away into the hands of God on February 13, 2021. He started from humble beginnings – growing up in Guayos. As a young man at the age of 20, he hoped to experience the “American Dream” and moved to Brooklyn, NY.  In the summer of 1959, he met his future wife Maria and six months later Cari and Maria were married in a small ceremony back in Cuba. The two built their lives together in Tarrytown, NY, and while a love for Cuba was never lost, Tarrytown was always home. Throughout the next 60 years, they welcomed three children and nine grandchildren. Watching his family grow and succeed was his proudest accomplishment.   

Cari was predeceased by his wife Maria, his parents Sergio and Francisca (Reyes) Obregon and his siblings Oliverio and Sergio Lazaro. He is survived by his siblings Sergio and Jose; his loving children James (Alessandra) Obregon, Richard (Lori) Obregon, Anna (Michael) Parenti  as well as his 9 adoring grandchildren; Richard, Sarah (Jesse), Katherine, Nicole, Olivia, Grayson, Cameron, Sebastian and Alessandra who lovingly referred to him as Papa. Most would describe Cari as a quiet man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He was also warm and caring towards his family and friends and he would do anything for one in need. He served as the patriarch of the Obregon family and he will be forever loved and missed.   

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Coffey Funeral Home where services will be held at 12:00. Interment will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
