Sr. Thecla Aguilar, RSHM Obituary

Sr. Thecla Aguilar, RSHM, died at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, Wednesday, September 23, 2020.

Born in Simijaca, Colombia, to Eva Gomez and Jose Aguilar, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1948.

She ministered in New York at Marymount Secondary School, Tarrytown; Sacred Heart of Mary, Bronx; St. Anne’s; in Virginia at Marymount, Arlington; Marymount School, Richmond St. Bridget’s, Richmond.

She served in Europe at Marymount School, Neuilly/Paris, France; the RSHM Generalate in Rome, Italy; Marymount International School, London, England; Istituto Marymount, Rome, Italy.

She served at Cormaria Retreat House, Sag Harbor, NY and at St Catharine of Alexandria, Brooklyn, NY. She volunteered at Marymount School, London; in Okeechobee, FL; and at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, where she was living at the time of her death.

Sr. Thecla is survived by nieces and nephews and by the members of her RSHM community.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Mass of Christian Burial will be private. She will be buried

at Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains. Gifts in her name may be made to Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, 50 Wilson Park Drive, Tarrytown, NY, 10591.
