Sr. Marie Canice Walsh (101) died Friday, September 24, 2021 at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown NY. Born in Co. Kilkenny, Ireland to Richard and Mary Galavan Walsh, she had been a member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary for 73 years.
Her ministries in elementary and high schools took her to several areas of New York City and Long Island, NY; British Columbia, Canada; Richmond, Virginia; Rolling Meadows, Illinois; and Rome, Italy. Though additional work at a variety of summer camps in New York, Virginia, Florida, British Columbia, and Rome and attendance at grant funded workshops, Sr. Canice succeeded in visiting every US state except Hawaii.
In 2013 she retired to Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, where she was living at the time of her death.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins and by the members of her religious community.
Services at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Visiting Thursday, October 7, 4:00 - 7:00 pm with Vigil Service 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, October 8,10:30 am. Burial Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
