Sr. Catherine Browne, RSHM

Sr. Catherine Browne (96) died Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown NY. Born in Dublin, Ireland, on February 20, 1927, she was one of 10 children born to Richard and Catherine Alwright Browne, She had been a member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary for 77 years. Before coming to the United States, she ministered in Ferrybank, Ireland. In Tarrytown, NY, she was a member of the support staff at Marymount Secondary School and Marymount College, where she also served as plant manager. She continued her work as plant manager in Rome, Italy, at Istituto Marymount and Marymount International School, and in Arlinton, VA, at Marymount University. She was boarding moderator at Marymount International School, London, England and a member of the staff at Marymount International School, Paris, France. She served on the staff of Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY before moving to Sag Harbor, NY to join the staff of Cormaria Retreat House, where she served for 16 years. She retired to Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, and was living there at the time of her death. Sister Catherine is survived by one brother, Vincent, and by many nephews and nieces in Ireland and by the members of her RSHM family. Services at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Visiting Thursday, August 17, 4:00 - 7:00 pm with Vigil Service 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, August 18, 10:30 am. Burial Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
