Sr. Anne Barat Corcoran (96) died Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown NY.  Born in Newport, RI, on September 23, 1925, to Edward and Mary Stella Walsh Corcoran, she had been a member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary for 69 years.                   

A nurse and teacher, she served at Marymount College; the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary, Manhattan, NY; St. Thomas Aquinas, Bronx, NY; and Sacred Heart of Mary High School, Bronx, NY.

She was the Provincial Leadership Board Area Representative for Africa/Europe.

She was a nurse and Supervisor of Nursing at St. Mary’s Hospital, Norton, VA. She spent 12 years at St. Andrew’s Mission, Marange, Zimbabwe as director of the small mission hospital/clinic.

She worked in Fincastle, VA for a short time before moving to Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, the home of the senior sisters. She served as a member of Convent staff, until retiring from active ministry. She was a member of the Convent community at the time of her death.

She is predeceased by her parents and brothers, Rev. John Corcoran MM and William W. Corcoran and survived by her brothers, Michael R. Corcoran and Edward B. Corcoran, nieces and nephews, and by her RSHM sisters.                                                

Services at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Visiting Tuesday, May 10, 4:00 - 7:00 pm, with Vigil Service 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, May 11, 10:00 am. Burial Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
