Richard “Dick” Anthony Kelly - Navy Veteran and Family Man
Richard “Dick” Anthony Kelly, 88, of Bronxville, N.Y., passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 21, 2022 in Hospice care at White Plains Hospital.
Dick was born on November 22, 1933 to John and Mary Kelly in North Tarrytown, N.Y. He grew up with 5 siblings: William, John, James, Edward and Mary.
After Dick graduated from North Tarrytown High School in 1951, he went on to serve in the armed forces.
On July 25, 1953, Dick married the love of his life, Shirley A. Couture at St. Teresa of Avila Church in North Tarrytown, N.Y.
Dick proudly served in the United States Navy while stationed in San Diego, California. After his work in the forces, Dick made a home in North Tarrytown, N.Y. where he worked as a proud machinist and raised his family for many years.
Dick and Shirley went on to have 5 children: Richard (Jackie), Kandice Fraina (Michael), Maureen Sroka (Robert), Robert (Sharon), and Daniel (Iva).
Dick was well known as an avid stamp collector, little league coach, and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He spent his days golfing, fishing, playing cards with friends at the Eastchester Senior Center or walking down to watch the trains with his grandchildren. He spent the later years in his life walking the boardwalk in Atlantic City or soaking up the sun on cruise ships.
In addition to his children, Dick is survived by 6 grandchildren: Mickey Fraina, Kelly Rich (John), Theresa Keddy (Michael), Patrick, Kristin Sroka, and Samantha, and 5 great-grandsons: Kolton, Callen, Beckett, Deacon and Jaxson. He is also survived by his brother James, his sister Mary, his sister-in-law Rose, and many nieces and nephews.
Dick was predeceased by his parents, the remainder of his siblings and his loving wife.
Although this is a sad time for his family, it is bittersweet for him to finally be reunited with the love of his life in his afterlife. He will be missed by all, and will remain in our hearts for eternity.
Visiting will be held at Coffey Funeral Home, 91 North Broadway, Tarrytown, N.Y., 10591 on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 3PM to 7PM. His Funeral Mass will be at the Church of the Transfiguration, 268 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 10:30am. Burial will be private.
