Richard Gerard Cobuzzi, Sr. Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard G. Cobuzzi Sr. on March 1st, 2025, at the age of 92. Richard was born on November 27th, 1932, and lived a life full of love, service, and devotion to his family, his country, and his faith. He resided in Elmsford, NY.
Richard was married to his beloved wife, Marie, on September 12th, 1959, at Mt. Carmel Church in Mount Vernon, NY. They celebrated 65 wonderful years together, building a strong and loving family. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them.
A graduate of Tuckahoe High School, Richard went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Architectural Drafting from Westchester Community College. He began his career as a draftsman and later transitioned into a truck driver for Hillcrest Fuel Oil, eventually becoming a proud member of the Teamsters.
Richard served his country as a Navy veteran during the Korean War, as a Communication Technician Second Class. In 2019, he had the honor of traveling to Washington, D.C. with his daughter, Rosemary, as part of the Hudson Valley Honor Flight. The outpouring of love and respect he received during the trip touched his heart deeply, and he cherished the experience as a testament to the service of all veterans.
A devout Roman Catholic, Richard dedicated much of his life to his faith. He was an active participant in many religious trips and seminars, finding spiritual fulfillment in his relationship with God. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through the many joys and challenges he faced.
Outside of his faith and family, Richard had many passions. He was a lifelong New York Yankees fan, and visiting Yankee Stadium was one of his greatest joys. Richard was also an avid gardener, known for his impressive vegetable garden, where he grew figs, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, cucumbers, and a variety of other vegetables. He took pride in nurturing his garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends.
A true handyman, Richard was always ready to tackle home projects and was skilled at fixing and making things. He and Marie were always the first ones on the dance floor at weddings, bringing their energy and joy to every celebration. Richard was a food connoisseur who loved to reminisce about his youth over a delicious meal. He also enjoyed traveling with Marie and their friends through the Elmsford Senior Group, creating memories on countless trips.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Marie, with whom he shared 65 beautiful years. He leaves behind his two daughters, Carol (Brett Pasapane) and Rosemary (Jerry Macari), and his three sons, Frank (Eva), Rick (Paula), and Anthony (Christine). He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Brian, Michelle, Sean, Janine, Francesca, Nicholas, and Nathaniel, as well as five great-grandchildren: Shiloh, Brian, Vincent, Derrick, and Eli. He was predeceased by his sister, Marie E. Cobuzzi, and three brothers, Dominick (Martha), John (Vincenza), and Alphonse (Nazarina).
Richard’s family takes comfort in knowing that he leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.
