Patricia Flood Griffin, born September 18, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, passed into eternal life on August 3, 2024 at the Dellridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paramus, New Jersey surrounded by her loving family and prayed for by many more who could not be at her side.

Patricia was the daughter of John and Teresa (McDonald) Flood, who predecease her, along with the love of her life, her husband William FX Griffin, who passed in 2009.  Also predeceasing her are Anne Marie Flood (wife of brother Jack) and William and Rita Flood.  On the Griffin side of her family, she was predeceased by John and Margaret (Cavanaugh), Griffin, Robert and Anna (Clinton) Griffin, James Griffin, Daniel Griffin, and Carol Griffin (former spouse of Daniel Griffin).

Patricia is survived by her brother Jack and sister Jeanne Flood, as well as dozens of nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

Patricia was a graduate of Saint Scholastica Academy in Chicago, class of 1956. She graduated from Mundelein College in Chicago in 1960 with a bachelor’s degree in history and English Literature. In 1970 she was awarded a master’s degree in Pastoral Ministry from Loyola University.  

In addition to a six decade career in publishing sales, hospital training, and business administration at Allyn and Bacon Publishing, Nyack Hospital, and Phelps Memorial Hospital (now Northwell), Patricia was a long time parishioner of the Church of the Magdalene in Pocantico Hills, New York, where she was actively involved on the Liturgy Committee, the Parish Council bible studies, as well as leading a weekly adult Bible Study program for over 20 years.

Friends and family may pay their respects at the Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown, New York (91 North Broadway) on Thursday, August 8 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. The funeral mass will be in the chapel of Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, New York (650 Saddle River Road) on Friday, August 9 at 10:00am.  Interment will follow at the cemetery.
