Pasqualina 'Patty' (Ruggiero) McVeigh

Doctor Pasqualina (Patty) McVeigh of Tarrytown, New York, who had been courageously batting cancer since July of 2024, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 2, 2025.  She was surrounded by her loving husband Jim and family.

Born on January 28, 1971, Patty was a proud and devoted mother to Breana and Giavanna, a loving wife to “her” Jim, sister, aunt, educator, cherished friend and role model to the many lives she touched.

A dedicated teacher for 29 years at Pocantico Hills School, Patty touched the lives of countless students with her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering belief in their potential. Her classroom was a place of warmth, encouragement, and growth — a true reflection of her character.

Patty’s devotion to education filtered through all aspects of her life. As an older sister, Patty guided her siblings in everything from homework lessons to life lessons. 

Patty selflessly gave her time and love to all who knew her. Whether it was a listening ear or welcoming people to an extended stay in Mattituck, she loved with her whole heart and made sure you knew.

She is also survived by her siblings Lori (Ben), Mario (Ana), Rosina, Angela (Frank) and Peter as well as her countless nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Vincenzina and Pietro Ruggiero.

Though her life was cut short, Patty was one who always talked about her opus.  Her legacy will live on through her girls and the many students whose lives she touched.  Friends, family, former students, and colleagues are encouraged to honor her memory by continuously finding the good in all and demonstrating love and kindness every day.
