Nancy Palmerone Quinn, a longtime Tarrytown resident died peacefully on October 10, 2024 at the age of 97. She was born and raised in Newburgh, NY.
Nancy and her husband Paul moved to Tarrytown in 1957 from Astoria, Queens.
Nancy was a dietician with a degree from Cornell University who directed the food services at many nursing homes, school systems and hospitals over the course of her career. She also taught diabetic and heart healthy eating at Cornell Cooperative Extension, Westchester County.
During her many years in Tarrytown she volunteered at Transfiguration Church, served on the Town Beautification Committee and for decades volunteered at the Cherry Door gift shop. She also was an election volunteer.
Nancy made friends easily. She loved cooking, gardening and was also an avid walker. She was proud of her Italian heritage and farm upbringing and was unafraid to express her opinion on a range of issues.
She was married to James P. Quinn who predeceased her in 2005.
Nancy was a parishioner of Transfiguration Church.
She is survived by her sons Thomas (Sue Lamoureux) of St. Paul, MN, Gerard of Tarrytown and Damien (Alison) of Wayne, PA. Also surviving are her granddaughters Taylor (Mike), Shannon and Fallon.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Tuesday October 15 from 3PM to 7PM. Her Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11:00 at Transfiguration Church followed by interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
