Nancy R. (Sprague) Durso

Nancy R. Durso, a longtime resident of Katonah died May 4, 2023 at the age of 87. Born in Addison, NY on July 23, 1935, she was the daughter of Gordon and Stella (Lachance) Sprague.

Nancy was a graduate of Addison High School. She went to New York City to attend school to become a hairdresser. While in New York practicing her new trade, she met her future husband Joseph M. Durso. Joseph and Nancy married and eventually settled in Katonah.

In addition to raising her own children, and because of her great love of children, she raised several foster children through the years.

Having been raised on a farm in Addison, Nancy also loved horses, cows and anything farm related. She raised chickens and ducks on her property in Katonah as well.

She will be remembered as a wonderful hairdresser and for being an excellent cook as well as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Surviving are her beloved husband Joseph, her sons Joseph (Mary Ann) and Steven; her grandchildren Matthew (Shelby), Sarah, Zachary, Steven and Nikki and her sister Nina Smith. Nancy was predeceased by her siblings Fred, Jean and Gordon.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Sunday May 7, 2023 from 3PM to 7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at St. John Paul, II Church at 10:00 followed by burial in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
