Michael J. Gasparre

Michael J. Gasparre of Tarrytown passed away peacefully on September 24, 2019 at the age of 88. He loved and lived in Florida where he was a recent resident.  Born in Yonkers on October 17, 1930, he was the oldest son of Jean and Joseph Gasparre. Michael graduated from Yonkers High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1951, serving as a Medic during the Korean War. He had served as President of the VFW Post 1939.

Michael had a career with the Westchester County Police and graduated from NY Criminal Justice, Detective Division. After retiring, he worked for County Asphalt in Tarrytown.  Michael was a Teamster, Local 456.

Michael's passions were family, friends, and music.  He was a lifelong musician who played in Liberace’s Orchestra, the NY Skyliners Marching Band, Florida Brass and Bugle, the Great American Seniors Band and the Romeo’s.  He is a member of The World Drum Corps Hall of Fame. 

Michael is pre-deceased by his wife Mildred "Mickie", is survived by his daughters Dawn Santimauro and Audrey Rivera, his stepchildren John Ulrich, Suzie Doorley, Joy Furtado and Karl Ulrich and his 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers Salvatore, Joseph, Nicholas and Eugene Gasparre as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Thursday from 4PM to 8PM. Funeral Services will be on Friday at 10:30 AM at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.  A celebration lunch will follow at Sunset Cove in Tarrytown.
