Marilyn C. Wright of Thornwood, NY went to heaven on November 1, 2021 at the age of 82, though she told everyone she was 28. She is now with her beloved husband of 57 years, the late John (Jack) G. Wright, who predeceased her just sixteen months earlier and whom she missed every day. Marilyn was born on February 17, 1939 in Dobbs Ferry, NY to the late Karl Joseph and Mary Magdalen Wetzel and is predeceased by her three siblings, Barbara Jensen, Elaine Brooks, and Karl Wetzel. A loving, devoted wife and mother, Marilyn is survived by her two children, Katherine (Donald) Blaney of Yorktown Hts., NY and John G. (Timothea) Wright II of St. Augustine, FL. She is also survived by six grandchildren who gave her great joy: Carolyn, Adam and Michael (Blaney) and Taylor, Emily and John (Wright). Among her many jobs, Marilyn was a clerical worker for the Bank of NY, Pepsico, and the Mt. Pleasant Cottage School.
Marilyn loved being in her kitchen! Having quite a collection of recipe books, she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Marilyn’s hands were often busy crafting. She especially enjoyed plastic canvas needlepoint and had fun selling her creations at craft fairs. She also liked being outdoors and taking walks.
A kind, giving person with a good sense of humor, Marilyn had a talent for making others feel important, happy, and loved. She was strong in her faith and prayed daily for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and will be in our hearts forever.
There will be a funeral mass for family and Marilyn’s friends at the Church of the Transfiguration in Tarrytown, NY (where she and Jack were married) on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 10:00. A private family burial will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.
