Maria (Musella) DelMonaco

Maria Del Monaco (Musella), a lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.  She was 79 years old.  Maria was born in Secondigliano, Naples, Italy on March 15, 1944 to Gennaro Musella and Antonietta Loffredo. In 1971 she immigrated to the United States and settled in Sleepy Hollow. She was married to her loving husband of 51 years, Pasquale, in 1972 at Immaculate Conception Church in Sleepy Hollow and was employed by General Motors.  Her family was her pride and joy. 

Maria was a kind and caring person who was always helpful and hospitable with a smile and laugh that everyone loved.  She was no-nonsense, strong and honest.  Maria was an active member of the Sleepy Hollow Seniors and Immaculate Conception Church.  She enjoyed traveling with the Seniors Club, playing Bingo and traveling to Italy and Canada, especially to watch her son coach in the Canadian Football League. Maria was loved by many and so were many of her delicious Italian dishes and desserts. She enjoyed cooking for anyone who walked through her doors, especially during the holidays, and always made you feel special.  

She is survived by her husband Pasquale, daughter Anna Maria (Carlos) and son Pasquale Jr. (Kelly) and her four grandchildren Julia, Pasquale III (Del Monaco), Sofia and Sonia (Santiago) and her sisters Carmela Greco, Filomena Salzano, and brother Giuseppino Musella.  As well as many nephews and nieces both in the United States and Italy.  She was predeceased by her father and mother (Gennaro and Antonietta) and sisters Francesca, Giuseppina and Rosa, and her brother Carmine. 

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Monday, July 24th from 4pm to 8pm.  Maria’s Funeral Mass will be at St. John Paul II Maronite Catholic Church at Immaculate Conception Church in Sleepy Hollow at 10am followed by interment at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
