Margaret Ann Murphy passed away on January 21, 2025 at the age of 76:
Marge was born on June 20, 1948 to Paul and Peggy McKeever in the Bronx NY. She graduated from St. Simon Stock High School in the Bronx NY. She married James R. Murphy in Tarrytown NY on 8/5/74.
She was the mother of 5 children – Maureen (Les), Missy (Jim), Terence (Sheila), Colleen (Jason), Annie (Chuck), 12 grandchildren – Mikayla, Emma, Amelia, Jim, Meg, Jennifer, Maeve, Chris, Annalise, Brendan, Caroline, Delia, and 2 greatgrandchildren - Justin and Eva
She was a longtime Parishioner of Transfiguration Church where she was active in the Women’s Club, the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 11 Kitty Geissler Division and had served as their historian, the American Irish Association, and Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. Always ready to pitch in and help, she coached one of the first little league softball teams in Tarrytown, volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, and CCD teacher. When she turned 50 she began taking flying lessons to pursue a lifelong dream. She enjoyed bowling for many years and baking ziti for every special occasion. She also enjoyed knitting for the Transfiguration Prayer Shawl Ministry. An avid reader, she had a passion for the written word.
She worked for many years as a switchboard operator at Phelps Hospital, Pleasantville Cottage School, Listworks, and Crafters. She volunteered at the Cherry Door Thrift Shop and the information desk at Phelps Memorial Hospital after retiring. She loved to spend time with her grandkids and with her longtime friends from kindergarten Madeline and Bill Pagano, Eileen and John Sutter and Mary Ivory.
Margie was a great mom, a great friend, and will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Thursday January 23, 2025 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Her Funeral Mass will be at Transfiguration Church on Friday at 10:30 followed by interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
