Mae Aiello of Tarrytown, NY passed away on January 6th just 10 days shy of her 96th birthday. She was a cherished member of Transfiguration Church in the 20 years she and husband Joe lived in Tarrytown. Prior to that, she was a longtime resident of Crestwood, NY. Mae carried her love of community theatre with her wherever she lived and actively participated most of her life. Her passion for theatre paired well with her gift for writing which she embraced wholeheartedly. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Pregnancy Care Center in New Rochelle where she counseled young pregnant mothers.
Born in Mount Vernon, NY to Angelina and Jack LaSala, Mae grew up with brother, Frank and sister, Rosemarie and her great big Italian family. She attended the College of New Rochelle where she met some of her closest, lifelong friends.
Mae was married to the love of her life, Joseph Aiello for over 60 years before his death in 2014. She is survived by her children, Mary Jackson (Michael), Joyce Mitchell (John) and Paul Aiello, her grandchildren, Paul Jackson (Kristina), Nicole Fanjul (Jose), Vanessa Young (Robert), Olivia Mitchell (Bryan Stroebel) & Jessica Mitchell and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Mae’s life will be held in the spring.
