Lowell Lamb Obituary

Lowell H. Lamb

9-27-1935 to 2-25-2023

Lowell H. Lamb, 87, formerly of NYC, passed away on February 25, 2023, at Kendal on Hudson in Sleepy Hollow, NY after a period of declining health.

Born in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of Lowell Lamb and Dawn (Hawkins) Lamb/ Anderson.  Lowell graduated from Mountain Lakes High School in New Jersey, then went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania.  He also proudly served his country as an Army reservist. He studied to become an actuary, a role which he enjoyed with Mutual Life Insurance Co of New York (MONY) until his retirement.

Lowell was a man with a deep passion for his church, the 5th Avenue Presbyterian Church of New York City.  He served on numerous boards, always eager to assist his fellow man.

He and his wife Sandra shared a love of travel and extensively toured the world to many exotic and unusual locations, but Lowell always said that Manhattan was his favorite island in the world.

Lowell’s passion for trains extended from a short trip on the Metro to train trips across the country and even Europe.  He was fascinated by “all things train” his entire lifetime.  Sports, but especially the New York Giants, bird watching and hiking were among his favorite hobbies.  Lowell and Sandra hiked the Alps numerous times, the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, and even Mount Kilimanjaro.

His biggest passion was for Sandra, his wife of 46 years, whom he included in all of his worldly treks and adventures.  Lowell and Sandra created a long and happy life together.

Lowell leaves behind his beloved wife Sandra (Althouse) Lamb of NY, sister Patricia (Lamb) Henderson and her husband William of ME, niece Susan Henderson-Daniels and her husband Dennis of NH, nephew Brad Henderson and his wife Andelena of ME, nephew Joseph Althouse and his wife Mykela of MI, niece Sara Schlehofer of CA, cousin Richard Goman and his wife Jean of PA, and several great nieces and nephews.

Per Lowell’s wishes, no traditional service will be held.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lowell’s favorite charity,
