Lewis T. Hongach Obituary
Lewis T. Hongach, born on November 13, 1962, in Irvington, New York, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 12, at the age of 63.
Lewis was raised in Irvington, New York, and in his early twenties moved to White Plains, where he worked as a bank teller for the Bank of New York while putting himself through cosmetology school. He later became a hairdresser at Salon Premier in White Plains, where he shared his remarkable talent and passion for hairdressing for more than 40 years.
Lewis became a beloved and highly respected hairdresser, building a large and devoted clientele who adored him. He was a ray of light to everyone he met. His infectious personality, loving charm, class, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him. Lewis was never one to say no. He loved helping others and was always accommodating to anyone in need. He was truly a special person unlike any other.
Throughout his life, Lewis formed many lasting friendships with wonderful people. Among them was his dear friend Richie, with whom he shared a special bond for 37 years. Their friendship was built on love, loyalty, and countless cherished memories.
In addition to being an exceptional hairdresser, Lewis was a talented cook who loved spending his days off preparing delicious meals and treats to share with family and friends. He also had a gift for gardening and flower arranging. He found joy in making things beautiful and took great pleasure in sharing his creations with those closest to him.
Lewis possessed countless wonderful qualities, far too many to list. He was truly one of a kind and leaves behind an immeasurable void in the hearts of everyone whose lives he touched. There was not a person who knew Lewis who did not love him.
He is survived by his six siblings: his brothers, Bill Hongach and Andrew Hongach; and his sisters, Linda, Laura, Edith, and Louanne; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Lewis will be forever missed, but he will always remain in our hearts. The world has lost a truly remarkable person, and heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Wednesday June 24 from 4PM to 9PM. His Funeral Mass will be on Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church, Irvington at 10:00.
