Laurinda Pereira, a longtime resident of Sleepy Hollow, died March 20, 2023, at the age of 92. Laurinda passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Tondela, Portugal on February 21, 1931. She married her husband, Jose, in June of 1952 in Estoril, Portugal. Laurinda and her husband moved to Sleepy Hollow in 1959 to start their lives in the United States. Together, they created a home where they raised their only child, Isabel, and watched their only grandchild, Daniella grow up. Her great joy was baking and was well known within the community for her talent. After retirement, Laurinda and her husband loved to spend time at their summer home in Monte Estoril, Portugal with family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jose Pereira (2014). She is survived by her loving daughter, Isabel Pereira and son-in-law, Sherif Elsherif, of Shelton, Connecticut, her granddaughter and her husband, Daniella and Konstantin Tartakovsky, of Trumbull, Connecticut, and her great-granddaughter, Mila Tartakovsky.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Thursday from 4PM to 7PM. Her funeral Mass will be Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Teresa of Avila Church at 10:00 followed by interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
