Kathleen Ann (Hyland) Buckhout of Sarasota FI passed away on November 14,
with her loving children at her side.
Kathleen was born in North Tarrytown/ Sleepy Hollow on May 24, 1938, to Maurice and Mary Sheridan Hyland. She attended St. Teresa's School and was among the last graduating class of the original North Tarrytown High School.
Kathleen married Gerard Buckhout and made her home in Irvington where they raised their
children, Mary Beth-Buckhout and Brian. On their 50th wedding anniversary in 2009 Kathleen and Gerard renewed their vows at St Teresa's Church followed by a celebration with family and friends.
They enjoyed a good and happy life together during their retirement years in lovely Sarasota
yet found time to return to the Tarrytowns to visit with their many relatives and friends. Kathleen
also enjoyed working part time as a greeter at Walmart. Her beautiful smile, and kindness was a perfect match for this position. There she made friends easily and came to be known as "Miss K".
Kathleen's husband sadly passed away in 2016. Soon thereafter her son Brian relocated to Sarasota to care for her. Her daughter Mary Beth joined them and became her Mom's constant companion and caregiver.
Kathleen is survived by her daughter Mary-Beth Buckhout, her son Brian Buckhout, her grandson Andrew Buckhout, her siblings Maureen Flores (Wilfredo) of Sleepy Hollow, her brother Thomas Hyland of Oceanside California, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Gerard, her sisters Patricia Purtorti (Phil), Mary Jane (Leo Nenig), Helene Hyland (John Ruffler) her brother Michael Hyland (Maron).
Kathleen was a radiant sweet soul with a great sense of humor and a kind word for everyone.
She loved movies, restaurants, travel, music, and Elvis.
