Katharine Elizabeth Hennessey, a longtime Sleepy Hollow resident died May 12, 2020 at the age of 71 following a long illness. Katharine was born in Fort Monroe, VA on October 29, 1948 and was the daughter of Herbert O. and Evelyn L. Robinson Harris.
She earned a degree from Pace University and went on to get her RN from Westchester Community College. She was a nurse in White Plains Hospital for many years.
Katharine had been a Deacon at the Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns where she was a longtime parishioner. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Sleepy Hollow Seniors.
Surviving are her loving husband William and her children James (Jan) Whalen, Sean (Shannon) Whalen, William (Sonia) Hennessey and Kristine (Josef) Wagner. She was also a loving grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 2. Also surviving are her sister Virginia McNivens and her brother Michael Harris.
Due to the current conditions, the only services will be for her immediate family with burial to be in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. A public memorial will be planned in the future.
