Karen Ruth (Evers) Peña, born January 12, 1955, in Tarrytown, New York, was a devoted mother, grandmother, and caregiver whose life revolved around family and an unwavering commitment to children.

Karen is survived by her two sons, Brian (daughter-in-law Lisa) and Joe (daughter-in-law Aileen), and by her five beloved grandchildren: Jackson, Hudson, Ellison, Louise, and Charles. She also leaves behind extended family and many friends.

Nothing brought Karen more joy than her grandchildren. She delighted in hearing about their daily lives and milestones, and as a lifelong New York Rangers fan, few things made her happier than watching the kids play hockey. Those moments were among her greatest joys.

Beyond her own family, Karen’s heart belonged to children. For more than 20 years, she worked at the childcare facility For Kids Only, where she lovingly cared for hundreds of children. Each child was treated as if they were her own, and her kindness, warmth, and steady presence left a lasting impression on countless families.  

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Monday February 2, 2026 from 4PM to 7PM. Burial will be private.
