Mr. John Fairfield Ineson, born on March 30, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Helen Lane Ineson and the late Floyd Marshall Ineson, passed away at age 89 on June 4, 2022 in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. After graduating high school in Suffield, CT-he was one of four students to go on to college-he attended Wesleyan University, where he was a member of Sigma Nu, and received his B.A. in 1955. He met his wife, Lori, then a Cornell undergraduate, while at Cornell's Johnson School of Business, from which he earned his M.B.A. in 1957. After graduate school he helped create and manage information systems for corporations including Prudential, Singer and Union Camp. John was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor "Lori" Grassl Ineson and his son, Peter Ineson (Dianna Lowande-Ineson). John is survived by his daughter, Erika Ineson (Harriet Barovick) and her two children, Maximilian Barovick and Jakob Barovick, of New York; his son Peter's children, Noah Ineson and Caleb Ineson of Atlanta; his nephew Steven Roberts of Maine and his niece Suzy Jastram of North Carolina. John was a talented sailor and spent countless weekends on the Long Island Sound, the Hudson River and Chesapeake Bay searching for and sometimes finding the perfect breeze. He was curious about everything and everyone, and was an avid wood carver and golfer. He enjoyed trips to Maine, reading mystery novels and biographies, and discussing politics and family histories with a range of old and new friends. His family will be forever grateful for the compassionate care he received, and the warm community he formed, at Kendal on Hudson, and the care he and Lori received before that at The Landings in Williamsburg, Va.
Donations in John's name to Riverkeeper (Ossining, N.Y.) or

A funeral service will be held at Christ's Church at 2 Rectory Street, Rye, N.Y. 10580, on June 19 at 11 am.
