John Ernest Brideau, a lifelong resident of Tarrytown and North Tarrytown died June 10, 2023 at the age of 85. Born in Tarrytown on September 9, 1937, he was one of 12 children of Howard and Alice Brideau. The family grew up on Hudson Street in North Tarrytown where he attended school. To earn some money, he and some of his brothers would walk to Fairview to caddy for the golfers.
Ernie as he was known to family and friends served proudly in the United States Army and had been stationed in France for a while. After the service he moved to Tarrytown.
He spent most of his career working for the City of White Plains in parking enforcement.
Uncle Ernie will be remembered as a man who led his life quietly. His brother Norman remembered him as a great dancer.
Surviving are his siblings Grace Malandrino, Jeanette Trodden, Diane Gagliardi, Kay Lingardo, Alvin, Norman and Henry Brideau. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Leo Brideau, Viola Duffy, Gertrude Lazzarino and Ann Marie Bucscetto.
His Funeral Mass will be Thursday June 15 at 10:00 at St. John Paul, II Church in Sleepy Hollow followed by burial with Military Honors in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
