Joan M. Kent

Joan M. Kent, 91, of Pocantico Hills, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

Joan was born on July 17, 1931 in Pocantico Hills, NY.  She grew up and lived in Pocantico Hills in three homes within a two block radius.  As a teenager, Joan loved horses, riding and competing in events during that time.

Joan worked at Ford Motor Company and retired after 27 years. During retirement, Joan volunteered at Phelps Hospital for 16 years, where she loved volunteering in the transport department.

Joan led a life devoted to her faith, being a lifelong member of the Church of the Magdalene where she served for many years working in the rectory.  Through the years Joan participated in a Bible Study group as well as assisting as a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister.

Some of Joan's greatest joys in life were working in her garden, cherishing her many cats, as well as doing jigsaw & crossword puzzles.  She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed mysteries!  She loved to travel and in 1963 Joan bravely spent four months in Europe traveling by herself to eight countries. She would fondly remember her travels on this trip and shared her enthusiasm with her nieces and nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her mother, Mary Helmus Kent; her father, Raymond Kent; and her brothers Douglas and Robert.  Joan is survived by 7 nieces and 3 nephews and many grand/great nieces and nephews.
