James J. Chulla Obituary

James Chulla, a lifelong North Tarrytown/Tarrytown resident, passed away August 3, after a brief illness at the age of 78. James was born in North Tarrytown on August 24, 1947 to Katherine & James Chulla. He attended Sleepy Hollow High School graduating in 1966. Following high school he was drafted and served in the US Army for 2 years, mostly in Alaska. He worked many careers prior to his retirement.


He spent his life devoted to his family, never forgetting a birthday, holiday card or present. Jimmy was the life of the party, always willing to dance and share his love of music.


He was a member of the Tarrytown Seniors which he truly loved. He enjoyed the friendships, meetings and parties, never missing one.


He was a kind, loving man who lived his life his way. Jimmy will be incredibly missed by his family. He was predeceased by his parents James and Katherine, his aunt MaryAnn Blascik and his nephew, Scott Scudieri. He is survived by his brother, Richard (Cathy) and his sister, MaryJean Deimer (Roy.)  He was a loving uncle to Craig and Derrick Scudieri, Sharon Bailey, Melissa Reyes, Katrina Kaplan and Kayla Chulla. There was a special place in Uncle Jimbo’s heart for his great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many beloved cousins.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3:00 - 6:00. His Funeral Mass will be at Transfiguration Church on Thursday at 11:00 followed by burial with Military Honors in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
