James J. Donovan

James J. Donovan of Kure Beach, NC died April 24, 2019 at the age of 86. Born in Tarrytown on January 14, 1933, he was the son of Augustine and Mary Walker Donovan.  Jim was raised in North Tarrytown and graduated from North Tarrytown High School in 1951. He went on to serve in the United States Army from 1951 to 1954. He served in the 505th Infantry of the 82nd Airborne. Jim became a plumber and worked mostly for Union Local 21.

Jim raised his family in Irvington and later retired to North Carolina. Sadly, his wife Gloria passed away just 8 days before on April 16, 2019.

He is survived by his loving children David, James, Jack, Laurie, Nancy, Karen and Christopher and his grandchildren Brent, Greg, Jacqueline, Kyle, Luke, Jack, Jimmy, Liam, Casey, Erik, Michael, Kristianne and Ryan. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law Betty Donovan and Carol Donovan. He was predeceased by his brothers Gus and Jack.

His Funeral Mass will be Saturday May 4, 2019 at St. Teresa of Avila Church with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
