Howard Shelton a lifelong resident of Tarrytown, NY passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023 at the age of 75 due to complications from Multiple System Atrophy Parkinsonism. Howard graduated from the University of Miami in 1970 with a BS in Psychology. Upon graduation he went on to begin a career that he enjoyed as a professional bartender and bar manager for many years. In 1997 he joined the Master’s School in Dobbs Ferry as the Assistant Plant Manager. He retired from there in 2017 after 20 years of service. During that time, he also continued to work part time as a professional bartender at the Washington Irving Boat Club and the FOE 1042 Tarrytown Eagles club.
Howard played tennis and softball in his younger years. Later on in life his passions turned to photography, playing golf, sitting on a beach anywhere basking in the sun but most especially Montauk and after retirement relaxing in his recliner watching auto racing and sports of all kinds with his Maine Coon cats Booker and Bailey who stole his heart.
Howard was an excellent cook and a smart, laid-back person. He served as a trustee and Vice President for the FOE 1042 Eagles Club and was also a Past Worthy President. He leaves behind his wife and partner of 35 years Carolyn Kihm and his new Maine Coon cat Buster. He is also survived by his sister Cara (Billy) Kass, nephews Danny and Michael; brother Leslie (Lauri) Shelton, nieces Stephanie and Jessica, and nephew Gregg.
There will be a brief service and celebration of life held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club, 322 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591. (Parking in the rear of the building). Following the service, please join the family to share a bite to eat and reminisce on Friday, 5/19/23 from Noon-2:30.
