Helena G. Agostinho, a longtime resident of Sleepy Hollow died February 6, 2022 at the age of 83. Helena was born in Brazil on April 15, 1938 and was the daughter of Jose and Conceicao Silva Guedes.
She came to the United States in 1978 and settled in the Tarrytowns. She worked as a seamstress in Tarrytown where she took great pride in her work which she enjoyed very much. Later she worked for Mallory Battery which was in North Tarrytown.
Helena and her husband Paulo raised two daughters: Marcia and Regina. She was a parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila Church and a member of the Portuguese American Cultural Center in Tarrytown. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved nothing more than being with her family.
Helena is survived by her daughter Marcia (Wilson) Sousa and her granddaughter Tatiana Sousa as well as her sister Marina Vida. She was predeceased by her husband Paulo, her daughter Regina and her brother Jose Guedes.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM. Her Funeral Mass will be at St. Teresa of Avila Church on Thursday at 10:00 with the mass celebrated by Reverend Osvaldo Franklin. Interment will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
