Halil E. Mosa

Khalil Elias Mosa passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 at his home surrounded by close family and friends. He was 5 weeks shy of his 80th Birthday.

Khalil was born 1 of 8 children to Hana and Elias Mosa in Haifa, Israel on May 26, 1943. Khalil is survived by his wife Naila of 50 years. They would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2 weeks on May 5, 2023. He is also survived by his children Hana and John Povetz, Mona Mosa, Raji and Cheila Mosa, Rula and Ryan O’Keefe, Shaddy Mosa, his 7 grandsons Jonathan, Julian, Khalil, Tristan, Cameron, Griffin and Hudson. His siblings, Victoria Walsh, Roberta Mosa, Salwa Khoury, Ikhlas and George Peterkin, Ray and Sue Mosa and many loving cousins, nephews and nieces . Khalil was a loving Husband, Father, Sido (Grandfather), Cousin, Uncle and friend to all.

Khalil held many titles in life from Chef, to Restaurateur, to Merchant Marine, but his favorite role by far and away was being a Dad, Loving Husband and Sido (Grandfather). He loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He was a very hard working man and provided his family a beautiful life in a beautiful home in Tarrytown, NY in Westchester County notably one of the most expensive counties in the country after immigrating from Israel with nothing to his name. Khalil worked tirelessly just to afford his family the very best life had to offer. 

Khalil loved animals, his dog Mason was his very best friend and looking through old photos he’s seen with all kinds of animals, dogs, cats, birds, goats, chickens, and my favorite a family donkey by the name of Haloof bought by his late father Elias whom was also an animal lover.

Food wasn’t just a career path for Khalil it was a passion and a way to connect with family, which was the most important thing to him. Add some great music and he was in his element. The kitchen is the heart of the home for him.

Khalil was preceded in death by his beloved parents Hana and Elias Mosa, his beloved siblings, Katrina and Jamil Kasabri, Myles Walsh, George Mosa, Samia Mosa and Ratib Khoury and many beloved pets.

A wake will be held on Wednesday April 19, 2023 from 4-8pm at Coffey Funeral Home located at 91 North Broadway, Tarrytown, NY. Memorial Services will be held the following day at The Greek Orthodox Church of Our Savior at 2195 Westchester Ave in Rye, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
