Gloria deHuelbes-Mennen Obituary
Our sweet beloved mother Gloria DeHuelbes Mennen gently passed on Friday, 9th of December, 2022. Now free!! Waiting for her in heaven are her husband Stephen Mennen and their son Steven Menendez.
Born on May 1, 1925 in Manzanillo, Cuba to Julian DeHuelbes Suros and Ester Montesinos Ferrer. After a successful career in film, art, and fashion design, she married Esteban Menendez in Havana. They fled a war-torn Cuban revolution in 1961 and arrived in the United States where they later became citizens.
Gloria’s love and devotion for her family was evident by her lifelong self-sacrifice and care for her children, grand-children, and relatives. Many, who stayed behind in Cuba, which she helped for decades with gifts, donations, and even helping some escape the communist regime.
She leaves behind her daughter Berta Camal and son Henri and his wife Jevonna Menendez, also her grandchildren Christopher Camal, Stevie Raquel Camal, Chelle Tatianna Menendez, and Danneille and her husband Craig Vella, and cousins and relatives too many to name.
We all loved her deeply.
Fly free my sweet mami.
We look forward to the time when pain, sorrow, and death will be no more and we will all see you again. Until then rest comfortably knowing you are in our Great Creators memory.
