Gary P. Malunis, a resident of Sleepy Hollow died on September 10, 2024 at the age of 86. Born in Pottsville, PA on August 21, 1938, he was the son of Joseph and Mary Malunis and was raised in Merchantville, NJ. Gary’s education culminated with a Master’s Degree from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
In 1968, Gary married Elena Bergonzi in New York City and the couple soon moved to Westchester where they lived in White Plains, Irvington and Sleepy Hollow.
Gary worked for General Foods in a position that took him to Amsterdam and Brazil during the course of his career. Between his career with General Foods and his wife Elena’s career, they were grateful to be afforded the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe and Asia. After many years with General Foods, Gary embarked on a new career in Real Estate investments.
In addition to the time they lived in Amsterdam and Brazil, he and Elena had maintained a residence in Montreal for almost 15 years.
Gary understood the benefits of physical fitness and greatly enjoyed exercise of all kinds; he especially enjoyed playing golf.
Gary is survived by Elena, his wife of more than 50 years, and his brother Glen (Patricia) Malunis.
A Graveside Service for family and close friends will be held on Tuesday September 17, 2024 at 11 AM officiated by the Rev. Timothy Wiggins of the Church of the Magdalene in Pocantico Hills. Those attending are requested to meet at Coffey Funeral Home 91 North Broadway Tarrytown, NY 10591 at 10:30 to follow in procession to the cemetery.
