Eugene T. Diskin, of Highland, NY died January 25, 2020 at the age of 82. Born in the Bronx on February 1, 1937, he was the son of Thomas F. and Mary C. McKnight Diskin. He was the oldest of the 5 Diskin brothers. His father died when he was only 12 years old so he pitched in and helped his mother in every way he could.
He was retired from Con Edison where he had worked for 44 years.
Eugene and his wife Anita (Arndt) also ran a Bed and Breakfast, The Sunrise House, in the Catskills in Jeffersonville, NY. It had been in Anita’s family, but after it closed Eugene and Anita renovated it and ran it for many years.
He was an avid reader and writer. One of his favorite places was Barnes and Noble. He was also a movie buff and a huge fan of Neil Diamond.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, but more than anything Eugene will be remembered for something he instilled in his children and grandchildren. He taught them to dream and follow their dreams; that there was nothing they could not accomplish.
Surviving Eugene are his wife Anita, his daughter Lisa (John) DiNome, his son Charles (Laurie) and his beloved grandchildren Charles and his fiancé Courtney, Brianna, Christopher, Cole and Gabrielle. Also surviving are his brothers Gerard, Thomas, Patrick and George as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his four legged best friend Sady.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 PM to 6PM. A Funeral Service will be in the funeral home at 5PM.
