Emma C. Doherty of Tarrytown died January 28, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Cuba on January 9, 1931, she was one of 12 children born to Eduardo and Maria Flores Hernandez.
After coming to the United States and settling in Tarrytown, she met James Thomas Doherty whom she later married. They settled in Tarrytown where they raised their children Kathleen and James.
Emma worked for many years as a nutritionist for the County of Westchester. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tarrytown.
Emma is survived by her daughter Kathleen and her son James Edward and her granddaughter Gabriela. She is also survived by her brother Ricardo and sisters Teresa Gomez, Maria Del Carmen Salinas and Andrea Perez as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James and her siblings Herberto, Edmundo, Mario, Jorge, Santiago, Mercedes and Marina.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4 PM to 8 PM at Coffey Funeral Home where services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
