Eleanor Sabo
March 29, 1922 - September 29, 2021
Eleanor Sabo, a native of Sleepy Hollow, passed away peacefully on September 29 at the age of 99 in the home of her nephew Carl Highley in Ramona, California where she resided for the past 14 years.
Eleanor was a smart, classy, well dressed woman who held her own in any venue. She knew protocols, but was not shy to voice her mind when an opportunity presented itself.
Eleanor worked for Anaconda Wire and Cable that transitioned to become part of BP/Arco over her tenure. She retired in 1985 from a 30 plus year career as the executive secretary for the corporate legal counsel after beginning her work career as a time keeper in the local manufacturing facility in Hastings-on-Hudson.
Eleanor was a dedicated parishioner of the St Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church in Yonkers and White Plains. Eleanor loved live theater and was also active in the Sleepy Hollow Historical Society.
She is predeceased by niece Connie Taylor and nephew George Sabo III.
Surviving relatives include her niece Edie Birbeck and husband Thom, niece Carol Bawell and husband Elias, nephew Carl Highley and wife Eileen, and wife of George III, Elizabeth.
Funeral Services for Eleanor will be held at 11:00 A.M. October 18, 2021 at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, New York. She will be laid to rest with her parents, George and Anna Sabo, her Sister Alice Highley, Brother George Jr. and sister-in-law, Mattie Sabo.
