Donald J Murray

July 25, 1938 - October 7, 2022

Donald J. Murray, of Sleepy Hollow, NY passed away on October 7, 2022 with family in attendance.

Don was born in 1938 in Tarrytown to Joseph and Kathryn Murray. He graduated from North Tarrytown High School and went on to serve in the US Army Reserves prior to working for what is now known as Metro North Railroad. He retired after over 40 years there and in his later years enjoyed spending time with his family and working on various projects around the house.

On June 16, 1962, he and Frances Ballas married at Holy Cross Church in North Tarrytown, NY. Don and Fran have four children, Diane, Nancy (married to David Fink), Lynn (married to Glen Iurato) and Dan. They were also blessed with four grandchildren, Christian and Alec Iurato, Jackie Moore and Justin Fink.  His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he celebrated every achievement in their lives, whether big or small.

He is survived by his siblings Tom, Barbara (married to Wes Trunko) and Ann, as well as his sister-in-law Doris. He was predeceased by his brothers Bob and Bud, as well as his sister-in-law Ann. 

Don was devoted to his family and a helpful friend and neighbor to all. He often put others’ needs first and never hesitated to lend a hand whenever possible.  He was a sounding board and confidante to many. He also had special relationships with his many nieces and nephews. Don will be remembered fondly and lovingly by his family.

Visitation will be held at Coffey Funeral Home, 91 No. Broadway, Tarrytown, NY on Monday, October 10th from 3-7 pm. There will be a funeral mass at St. John Paul II at Immaculate Conception Church, located at 199 No. Broadway in Sleepy Hollow at 11:00 AM on Tuesday October 11th with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
