Despina Simeoforides, a longtime resident of Sleepy Hollow passed away peacefully December 26, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was 91. Born in Alonakia, Greece on February 12, 1931, she was the daughter of Theodore and Sona Tsolakidou Tsekerides.

Despina is predeceased by her husband Peter, and along with their three children emigrated to Tarrytown in May 1970, joining her mother and siblings.  In addition to raising her family she was a seamstress and dressmaker for Tarrytown Garment Company,  

Despina is survived by her loving children, Alex Simeoforides (Regina), William Simeoforides, and Vickie Garbarino (Tony) as well as her beloved grandchildren Alexander, Anthony, Jenna, Jaclyn and Kylie, and many nephews and nieces, who she adored so much. Also surviving are her siblings Elias Tsekerides and Maria Karanikolas. She was predeceased by her brother John Tsekerides, and her sisters Anna Marolis and Kytsa Kyriakidis.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home, Tarrytown, NY on Wednesday from 3PM to 8PM. Her Funeral Mass will be Thursday 12:30pm at Prophet Elias Church, 15 Leroy Avenue, Yonkers. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
