Charles T. Graap, Sr. a lifelong resident of Tarrytown died January 5, 2023 at the age of 80. Born in Tarrytown on September 13, 1942, he was the son of John and Mary (Fulling) Graap, Sr.
He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in 1960. On April 18, 1964, he married Barbara LaBate in Transfiguration Church and they settled in Tarrytown where they raised their family. Chuck, as he was known to family and friends, went on to become a partner and founding member of Brookfield Auto Wreckers.
He had been a race car driver and in the 1960s he raced cars for Dobbs Ferry Ford. He enjoyed fishing and golfing and was an avid New York Giants fan.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 58 years, his children Charles, Jr. (Stephanie), Deborah Burko (Frank Sansone) and Daniel (Irene); his grandchildren Daniel, Christopher, Samantha, Nicholas, Lia and Cira and his brothers John, Jr., Robert (Susan) and Fr. Gus Graap.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Monday from 4PM to 8PM. His Funeral Mass will be at Transfiguration Church on Tuesday at 10:30 followed by interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
