It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carlos A. Abrantes , a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of so many.

Born in São Cosmado, Portugal, he carried with him a deep love for his homeland throughout his life. In 1972, he immigrated to the United States with his beloved wife, Maria P. Abrantes, and their five-year-old daughter, Isabel, in search of greater opportunities and a brighter future for their family. Through hard work, determination, and unwavering devotion to those he loved, he built a life centered on family, friendship, and community.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maria P. Abrantes, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of marriage.

He is survived by his loving children, Antonio and Isabel; his son-in-law, Joe; and his daughter-in-law, Mary. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Alex, Marco, Nikki, Tonito, Manny, Cristiano, and Cecilia, each of whom brought immeasurable joy and pride to his life.

He had a passion for bringing people together. Whether he was preparing a delicious meal, making his homemade wine, or gathering with family and friends, his greatest happiness came from seeing everyone around his table enjoy themselves and leave with full hearts and satisfied appetites. Cooking was one of his greatest expressions of love.

He loved fishing, treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren, and enjoyed the many friendships he made at the Portuguese Club in Tarrytown. His warm smile, welcoming personality, and love of conversation made him a friend to everyone he met.

He was a kind, humble, and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He believed that every act of kindness would eventually come back to you, living by the simple principle that doing good for others was its own reward. His compassion, wisdom, and selfless spirit will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Though he will be deeply missed, the values he instilled, the meals he shared, the stories he told, and the love he gave so freely will live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched.

May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Maria.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Monday July 13, 2026 from 4PM to 8PM Mass and burial information to be posted when finalized.
