Angela J. Massari, of Peekskill and formerly of Ossining died peacefully at home on October 11, 2023 at the age of 95. Born in North Tarrytown on January 18, 1928, she was the daughter of Guiseppi and Madeline (Addunizzio) Zarrilli. Angela grew up in North Tarrytown with her 8 brothers and sisters. She was a graduate of North Tarrytown High School and later went on to earn an Associate’s Degree.
In 1950 she married Frank Massari in Immaculate Conception Church, North Tarrytown and shortly thereafter, the couple moved to Ossining where she spent over 50 years.
Angela had been the Executive Secretary for the White Plains Police and Fire Commissioner where she proudly worked for 25 years and retired in 2005.
She had been a member of the Tarrytown Seniors and really enjoyed the many activities and trips she took with them. She was also an avid reader. Most of all though, she loved spending time with her granddaughter Sofia.
Angela is survived by her sons Mark (Adelia) Massari of Montrose and Frank (Janet) Massari of Newport Coast, CA and her beloved granddaughter Sofia Massari. Also surviving are her brother James Zarrilli of Croton-on-Hudson as well as her niece Linda (Richard) Given, her grand-niece Lindsay and grand-nephew Richy Given all of Montrose. Angela’s family is also very grateful for the wonderful care provided by her caregiver, Lela. Angela’s husband Frank predeceased her in 1971 and she was also predeceased by her siblings Carmen, Mike and Anthony Zarrilli, Lucy Tanzillo, Madelyn Hughes, Mary Norris and Fanny Ferrara.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Sunday October 15 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be Monday at St. John Paul, II Church, Sleepy Hollow at 11:00 followed by interment in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
