Alfonso F. Passariello, Sr. (affectionately known as Lubby), a lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow, died on December 8, 2019 at the age of 91. Born in North Tarrytown on November 15, 1928, he was the son of Alfonso and Theresa Napolitano Passariello. He was a graduate of North Tarrytown High School class of 1946. Al went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. After his Honorable Discharge, he began a long career with A & P Supermarkets, where he accumulated hours and hours of story content to share later in life with his family and friends. He was a proud life active member of Union Hose Company #2 of the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department, having joined in 1961.
He is survived by his sons: Alfonso, Jr., Leon (Tina), Deano, John DiCariano and his step-son, Gerald Navin, Jr. He was the cornerstone of building a large family as he is survived by 10 grandchildren (Al III, Leon, Jr., Nancy, Lena, Robert, Deanna, Alexis, Indigo, Madeline, and Makayla) and 3 great grandchildren (Noah, Emilia, Gianni). He is also survived by his sister, Adeline Cascio. His wife, Julia M. Passariello, died December 4, 2019. He was also predeceased by his wife, Nancy J. Passariello, his sisters: Mary Dandreano, Theresa Ippolito, and Philomena Tanzillo, and his brother, Savario Passariello.
For those that were touched by his larger-than-life personality, unconditional love and passion, the family is happy to have you join them for a celebration of his life at a visitation that will be hosted at Coffey Funeral Home on Thursday from 4PM to 8PM. He will be dearly missed, but has left us all with his self-proclaimed life anthem to remember him by. Please have a listen to Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” for a glimpse into his amazing journey with us.
