Adelaide R. Monteiro, a longtime resident of Tarrytown died August 17, 2024 shortly after her 93rd birthday.

Born on August 11, 1931 in Portugal, she was the daughter of Caetano and Constancia (Purificacao) Correia. Adelaide married Fernando Monteiro in Portugal. When she and Fernando decided to come to the United States with their young family, they settled in Tarrytown.

Adelaide was a parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila Church where she sang in the choir for the Portuguese Mass. She had also been very active in the Portuguese American Cultural Center in Tarrytown.

She is survived by her loving children Abel Monteiro, Maria Fernanda Jorge, Helena Monteiro, Filipe Monteiro and Cristina Gallo. She is also survived by her 11 cherished grandchildren as well as 3 great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Abel Correia. Her husband Fernando predeceased her in 2012 and she was predeceased by her brother Celestino Correia and several half brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Thursday August 22 from 4PM to 8PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Theresa of Avila Church on Friday at 10:00 with Rev. Osvaldo Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
