Stewart “Rusty” F. Moore, Jr., formerly of Sleepy Hollow, New York, passed into eternal life on October 10, 2019 due to complications of ALS. He was surrounded by his loving family at the Westchester County Medical Center.
Rusty was born in Yonkers, NY on April 9, 1958 the first born of Stewart F. Moore, Sr. (deceased) and Dorothy Hohmann Moore.
The family moved to Philipse Manor in Sleepy Hollow where he attended local public schools. He graduated in 1976 from Sleepy Hollow High School and married his high school sweetheart, Regina Carroll Moore in May, 1979 at the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow.
Rusty was a talented drummer and avid NY Yankees, Giants, Jets and Rangers fan. He was accredited as an HVAC specialist working in the industry for over 30 years. Over the years he worked for Turner and Harrison Air Conditioning, C&C Air Conditioning and Air Solutions.
He is survived by his loving wife, Regina Carroll Moore and his two adoring daughters, Katelyn Grace Moore and Megan Dorothy Moore. He leaves behind his beloved mother, Dorothy Hohmann Moore and loving sister, Patricia R. Moore along with his sisters-in-law Maureen P. Carroll and Susan Carroll and three brothers-in-law John F. Carroll Jr.; James C. Carroll and William L. Stull. He will also be missed by his two loving nephews James C. Carroll, Jr. and his wife, Nicole Vitale and Godson Patrick F. Carroll. He also leaves behind many loving friends and his rescue dog, Marty, who was his best friend throughout this debilitating illness.
The family extends special thanks to the medical professionals at the Westchester Medical Center ICU, the ALS Clinic at the Hospital for Special Surgery and forever friends at LiveOnNY who assisted him in giving the gift of life to others waiting for a donor transplant.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 130 Beekman Ave., Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., at 10:00 on Tuesday October 15. Rusty will be laid to rest in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday October 14 from 4PM to 8PM at the Coffey Funeral Home, 91 North Broadway, Tarrytown, N.Y.
