Sr. Maire McQuillan

Sr. Máire (Brendan) McQuillan, RSHM, 97, died at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, August 5, 2018.

Born in Drogheda, Ireland, to Alexander and Florence O’Hare McQuillan, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1938.

Sr. Máire taught at Marymount Secondary School and Marymount College in Tarrytown. She was directress of Marymount School, Neuilly, France; principal of Marymount School, Tarrytown (1952-1959), and president of Marymount College, Tarrytown (1960-1969). She served at St. Mark’s House of Prayer, Sag Harbor, NY.

She is survived by her brothers, Finian, Colum, and Oliver McQuillan, and a sister, Una O’Connell, many nieces and nephews, and by the members of her religious community.      

Services at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Wake Thursday, August 9, 4:00 - 7:30 pm, Vigil Service 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, August 10, 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her name may be made to Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, 50 Wilson Park Drive, Tarrytown, NY, 10591.
