Sr. Eilish (Gemma) White, RSHM, 79, died in Tarrytown, NY, November 2, 2018.
Born in Dublin, Ireland to Nicholas and Kathleen Butler White, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1956.
Sr. Eilish taught in Richmond, VA, at Marymount School and St. Bridget’s School; in McLean, VA, at St. John’s School; in France at Marymount School, Paris; and in Brooklyn, NY at St. Catharine of Alexandria School and Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. She was involved in parish ministry in Mutare, Zimbabwe and worked with the Hispanic immigrant community in Immokalee, Florida. She was living at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, NY, at the time of her death.
She is survived by her sisters, Anne Kelly of Lake Ronkonkoma, NY, and Gemma Dunne of Garrison, NY, her brothers, Frank White of Australia and Matthew White of Ireland, many nieces and nephews, and by the members of her religious community.
Services at Marymount Convent, 32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY. Wake Thursday, November 8, 4:00 - 7:30 pm, Vigil Service 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, November 9, 10:30 am. Burial Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her name may be made to Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, 50 Wilson Park Drive, Tarrytown, NY, 10591.
